Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking an Accounting Manager for a remote role with preference for Florida or Ohio. You will oversee general ledger, payroll accounting, and capital asset processes, ensuring timely, GAAP‑compliant reporting across multiple entities and funding sources.

This role supports month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closes. Key duties include payroll journal entries, payroll tax reconciliations, inter‑company reconciliations, asset capitalization, CIP, depreciation, and close

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive experience in financial operations, and accounting roles; nonprofit/education experience preferred.
• Experience with payroll accounting, capital assets, and multi-entity accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll accounting, including posting payroll journal entries and payroll liability accounts.
• Reconcile cash, bank accounts, and inter‑company balances.
• Own general ledger across entities and funds; prepare journal entries per GAAP.
• Maintain capital asset subledger, CIP activity, depreciation, and asset roll‑forward schedules.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close, audit readiness, and internal controls.
