Job summary

Avalara, an AI-first tax technology company, is seeking a technologically adept Corporate Accountant to own complex accounting areas, global consolidation, equity accounting, and SOX controls from remote within the United States.

You will lead automation and data analytics initiatives, implement AI-enabled workflows, and work with FloQast and ERP data teams to improve financial reporting and close processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a background in public accounting.
• Multinational consolidation experience with FX accounting, CTA, and equity/stock compensation accounting.
• Experience overseeing SOX controls and validating financial results.
• Capability to drive automation and process transformation with AI tools and workflow platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support global consolidation across multiple entities, including FX remeasurement and translation.
• Manage equity accounting by legal entity and derivative instruments.
• Perform analytics on financial statements to drive root-cause analysis.
• Oversee SOX controls and reconciliation governance for audit readiness.
• Assist legal entity setup, COA maintenance, and organizational structure changes.
• Automate allocation methodologies and oversee journal entries.
• Lead modernization with AI-enabled workflows and agent-based solutions.
