Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Student Extern General Accounting to support institutional finance and supply chain operations. The role offers hands-on learning for juniors and seniors, with training across core accounting and systems like Oracle PeopleSoft.

Ideal candidates are pursuing accounting/finance or supply chain studies, can communicate effectively, and are ready to learn and contribute to financial data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Complete training in Oracle PeopleSoft, OBIEE, requisition creation, AP, P2P, and General Accounting entry creation.
• Perform Excel-based data consolidation to support reporting and analysis.
• Assist with development of training and process documentation.
• Analyze and manage data for finance and supply chain reporting.
• Consolidate, summarize, and interpret transaction data for reporting.
• Document interpretations of results and identify patterns and trends.
• Participate in procure-to-pay variance and vendor contract analysis.
• Support budgeting through data queries and research.
• Reconcile basic financial statement accounts and identify incorrect postings.
• Prepare recurring journal entries such as inter-departmental transfers.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve efficiency and deliverables.
