Job summary

Call Federal Credit Union in Glen Allen, VA is seeking an Accounting Associate to support the Accounting Department in maintaining accurate financial records and processing transactions.

Responsibilities include AP/AR processing, journal entries, bank reconciliations, monthly closes, regulatory reports such as NCUA Call Reports, and supporting audits. The role emphasizes accuracy, internal controls, and confidentiality within a member-focused credit union.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles; GAAP knowledge preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software/core financial systems is a plus.
• Strong organizational and confidentiality skills with effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Review and process corporate credit card transactions with proper documentation.
• Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts daily/weekly/monthly.
• Prepare and process journal entries with proper documentation and approvals.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Maintain detailed financial records and organized filing systems.
• Support preparation of regulatory reports (e.g., NCUA Call Reports, state filings).
• Assist with annual audits and examinations by gathering documentation and responding to requests.
• Monitor variances, identify discrepancies, and help resolve accounting issues.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Provide payroll processing support and benefits administration if needed.
• Participate in projects to improve accounting operations and financial reporting systems.
