Job summary

Global Impact Group LLC is seeking Acateco (Jakaltek) Over-the-Phone Interpreters to support USCIS contracts. You will provide real-time telephonic interpretation between Acateco and English during interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings, maintaining impartiality and confidentiality.

Qualified candidates are native or near-native in Acateco and English, with 2+ years of interpreting experience and strong cultural knowledge of Guatemalan Mayan communities.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Acateco (Jakaltek) and English.
• 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government).
• Strong cultural knowledge of Guatemalan Mayan communities.
• Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status eligible for Tier 3/5 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Acateco (Jakaltek) to English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.
• Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
• Follow USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.
• Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
• Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
