The Chicago School of Professional Psychology seeks an Academic Tutor for the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM). This part-time, remote role supports enrolled students with tutoring across diverse courses, focusing on study strategies, concept clarification, and problem solving.

Sessions are conducted virtually and require availability at least two days per week. The tutor reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and must maintain professional standards,

Competenze

• Must be currently enrolled and in good standing as a second-, third-, or fourth-year MD or DO student.
• Demonstrated proficiency in each course or subject area the applicant will tutor, as established through coursework or faculty recommendation.
• Prior tutoring, teaching, facilitation, or academic-support experience preferred.

• Complete required tutor training and onboarding before providing tutoring services.
• Prepare for and facilitate individual and/or group sessions.
• Document tutoring attendance and services using designated system.
• Protect the confidentiality and integrity of examinations, student information, and course materials.
• Recognize, utilize, and apply study techniques addressing different learning needs and styles.
• Foster a professional and welcoming environment with respect for diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Use active listening to determine content and pace of tutoring and diagnose student needs.
• Participate in professional development to improve tutoring skills and cultural competence.
• Provide ongoing feedback and reflection to improve practice.
• Help students become more confident, self-directed learners.
• Communicate with students in a direct and supportive manner.
• Provide assistance with equipment, learning objects, and materials for student success.
• Make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources when necessary.
• Facilitate problem-solving through inquiry, curiosity, and collaborative learning.
