Job summary

Placements24 partners with a university client to recruit an Academic Advisor for remote student support, primarily serving the East London area. The role guides course selection, career planning, and understanding academic policies to help students succeed.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (Master's preferred) with at least 3 years of advising experience, and excels in communication and empathy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field is required.
• Master's degree is preferred for advanced advising roles.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or student support services.
• Strong knowledge of university programs and curriculum structures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
• Proficiency with student information systems and remote advising tools for serving students remotely.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on course selection, degree requirements, and academic planning to ensure timely graduation.
• Assist students in understanding academic policies, procedures, and campus resources.
• Provide guidance on career exploration and connect students with relevant opportunities and support services.
• Monitor student academic progress and intervene proactively to address potential challenges.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records and communication logs.
