Job summary

Village of Schaumburg is seeking a part-time Customer Service Center Representative (311 Center) to handle high-volume calls from residents, businesses, and visitors. The role also monitors social media content and text inquiries, providing timely, courteous service and routing requests to the appropriate departments.

Initial in-person training will occur for about 12 weeks before transitioning to remote work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year experience in an office setting with heavy phone usage.
• Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
• At-home high-speed internet connection.
• Proficiency with current computer technology and customer service systems.

Responsibilities

• Answers inbound calls in a high-volume call center environment from residents, businesses, and visitors.
• Uses computer systems to research answers and determine the appropriate response.
• Creates and routes electronic customer service requests and monitors website submissions.
• Triages calls to identify emergencies and transfers to dispatch when needed.
• Monitors the village's text line and edits emergency social media posts as directed.
• Stays current on village staffing, activities, policies, and services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
