Job summary

Chinese for Affitive Action (CAA) seeks an independent contractor to serve as the primary dispatcher for the San Francisco Rapid Response Network (SFRRN) 24-hour hotline. The role requires evening and overnight coverage from a remote location in the San Francisco Bay Area, with access to a reliable internet connection and a dispatcher’s phone.

The contractor will triage calls, provide accurate information, log interactions, and escalate to attorneys when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience as an independent contractor (sole proprietorship or LLC).
• Bilingual fluency and literacy in English and a language widely spoken in the San Francisco Bay Area is preferred.
• Able to maintain confidential and sensitive information and log calls accurately.
• Calm and empathetic demeanor to support callers in distress.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in logging call information.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary CAA dispatcher for SFRRN hotline, answering live hotline calls for a minimum of 16 hours a week, during non-standard office hours.
• Answer and/or immediately return all calls when actively dispatching.
• Triage phone calls, provide accurate information and refer callers for supportive services as appropriate.
• Follow SFRRN protocols and guidelines when responding to calls.
• Attend meetings and training for updates on changes to hotline operations.
• Track and document the hotline and immigration enforcement and detention trends.
• Provide reports with data and trends of calls, referrals, and follow up actions.
