Job description

We have an immediate opening and are seeking a highly driven, self-motivated, and team-oriented Remodel Technician who takes pride in providing exceptional craftsmanship services and has expertise in the multi-family service industry.

This full-time position at Kleinman involves working Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with on-call hours required and occasional weekend work. The role focuses on managing unit remodel operations across our multi-family properties in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Anoka Counties.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
  1. Performing craftsmanship and building services including preventative, corrective, deferred, routine, cosmetic, and emergency maintenance, covering plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, appliances, HVAC, and other components.
  2. Providing skilled craftsmanship services across the portfolio.
  3. Managing projects, coordinating with vendors, and meeting deadlines.
  4. Installing cabinetry, doors, and millwork accurately.
  5. Demolishing and clearing trash from projects.
  6. Managing materials sourcing, delivery, and staging.
  7. Communicating scheduling issues and assisting in resolving them.
  8. Assisting in project design and providing routine maintenance and resident service requests.
  9. Preparing vacant units for occupancy, including comprehensive renovations.
  10. Installing and repairing appliances, diagnosing plumbing and electrical issues, and maintaining mechanical systems.
  11. Maintaining building security components.
  12. Supporting senior management with inspections, projects, and property assessments.
  13. Collaborating with vendors and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies.
  14. Reporting hazards and urgent issues promptly.
  15. Attending training courses and maintaining certifications such as Boiler and CPO licenses.
  16. Adhering to safety protocols and providing emergency repairs when necessary.
  17. Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Participation in an on-call rotation (~once every 6 weeks), with the ability to respond within 5 minutes and be within 30 minutes of assigned properties. Must have a valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, pass a background check, and own tools.

Qualifications:

Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal, and technical skills in building maintenance and renovations. Ability to communicate effectively, make decisions, solve problems, and manage time efficiently. Ability to work independently and in teams, with fluency in English. Proficiency with relevant phone applications is required. Capable of adapting to changing priorities quickly.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED, with at least two years of experience in electrical, plumbing, minor construction, and preventative maintenance.
