Job summary

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking a project manager to lead environmental remediation efforts across VRP, RCRA CA, Superfund and Federal Facilities, with hybrid in-office and telework. The role requires Virginia site work and coordination among stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and effective remedy implementation.

Qualifications

• Experience with remediation technologies and site investigations.
• Knowledge of CERCLA, NCP, RCRA CA, and VRP.
• Knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, engineering and basic sciences.
• Remediation technologies, contaminant fate, risk assessment, waste management and related laws.
• Ability to organize and prioritize technical work per policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use software to improve productivity.
• Ability to analyze problems balancing regulatory and business needs.
• Real ID or US passport and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for groundwater monitoring at hazardous waste facilities and other projects.
• Review and process complex documents: work plans, reports, site models, studies, remedy decisions and plans.
• Oversee site characterization, remedy implementation and response actions; monitor progress toward completion.
• Ensure compliance with technical requirements, guidelines, laws and regulations; apply pollution prevention where possible.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve regulatory and technical issues efficiently and fairly.
