Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to perform highly technical, professional work in the Waste Cleanup Program’s Federal Programs Section. You will manage DOD and FUDS remediation efforts and provide regulatory reviews and guidance across regulatory frameworks.

Ideal candidates have four years of related experience, strong writing and communication skills, and are prepared to travel.

Qualifications

• Four years of verifiable related experience in engineering, environmental science or natural sciences.
• A credential evaluation report for foreign degrees must be submitted.
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel are required.
• Must complete OSHA 24-Hour Safety Training within six months of employment (State pays).

Responsibilities

• Serve as Remedial Project Manager for DOD installations and FUDS.
• Provide technical review of assessment and cleanup documents and CERCLA-related work.
• Coordinate with DOD, USACE, NASA, and EPA to meet state and federal requirements.
• Oversee field activities at DOD and FUDS sites as requested.
• Attend meetings and trainings and perform additional duties as needed.
