Job summary

Dircks Moving & Logistics is seeking a Dispatcher to work with customers, operations, and customer support to deliver high-quality moving and logistics services in Arizona. The role focuses on scheduling, vehicle and crew coordination, and responding to inquiries to ensure timely deliveries.

The ideal candidate will manage local transportation, handle DOT documentation, and support continuous improvement of service levels for both residential and commercial moves.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents; write routine reports; speak effectively before groups.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schedules and staff requirements for local household goods and commercial transportation.
• Determine number of vehicles and crew based on sales, customer service, and orders.
• Prepare schedules indicating arrival and departure times of vehicles.
• Answer inquiries on services, rates, schedules, and service areas.
• Investigate customer complaints and make necessary adjustments.
• Direct crews between jobs and coordinate local fleet activities.

Dircks Moving & Logistics is seeking a Dispatcher who will be involved in interactions with our customers, operations, and customer support while ensuring we deliver the highest quality service to our customers.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepares schedules and staff requirements for local household goods and commercial transportation systems.
• Determines number of vehicles and crew based on information from sales associates, customer service representatives, and booked orders.
• Prepares schedules indicating times of arrival and departure of vehicles.
• Answers inquiries on types of services offered, rates, schedules, and areas services.
• Investigates customers complaints involving such matters as damaged items, overcharges, or delay in shipment, and makes necessary adjustments.
• Directs crew from job to job.
• Directs salvage of damaged or used material.
• Participates in planning Local Crew/Safety Meetings and activities.
• Assist with file maintenance on tractors and trailers.
• Scan and file DOT documents.
• Assist with inbound logs and distribution.
• Manage maintenance and repairs of local fleet.
• Track and manage rental equipment.
• Answer with inbound phone calls.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
