Job summary

Muslim Center of Greater Princeton seeks a Religious Director to foster spiritual growth, leadership development, and community engagement for the congregation and broader community.

The role oversees Masjid engagements, weekly khutbahs, weekend school, and Gardens of Knowledge, while guiding counseling services and interfaith initiatives. Strong knowledge of Islamic principles and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in youth leadership and community engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of Islamic principles and ability to relate them to contemporary issues.

  • Perform Nikahs and Janazas as backup.

MCGP Religious Director

The

MCGP Religious Director

The Religious Director at the Muslim Center of Greater Princeton (MCGP) will play a critical role in fostering spiritual growth, leadership development, and community engagement for the broader congregation and community.

Responsibilities
  • Masjid Engagements
  • Lead micro-halaqas after Fajr on Weekends and Isha prayers daily to provide spiritual guidance and foster reflection.
  • Deliver one Jummah khutbah each week, ensuring they are relevant, engaging, and resonate with diverse age groups and audiences.
  • Host a Friday evening community halaqa, encouraging dialogue and connection within the community.
  • Actively connect with community members through regular outreach and personal engagement.
  • Weekend School
  • Provide overall supervision of the weekend school, ensuring its growth and excellence.
  • Mentor students to promote character development and leadership.
  • Review and enhance the curriculum to align with Islamic principles and contemporary needs.
  • Coordinate class rotations with the Imam for student Q&A sessions.
  • Garden of Knowledge Academy
  • Advisory and religious leadership for Gardens of Knowledge, teaching at least 1 Gardens of Knowledge course(s).
  • Counseling
  • Provide counseling services to community members and youth.
  • Develop written protocols and maintain confidential records for all counseling sessions.
  • Interfaith/Outreach
  • Advising and supporting interfaith events through the chairs of key committees (Religious, Interfaith, Youth, Social Services, Communications/Marketing) to coordinate efforts and recruit volunteers.
  • Fundraising Assistance
  • Collaborate with key donors and inspire small groups to support MCGP initiatives.
  • Make regular appeals at masjid events and programs to encourage donations.
  • Ceremonial Duties
  • Perform Nikahs and Janazas, if needed as back-up, ensuring they are conducted with professionalism and adherence to Islamic traditions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in youth leadership and community engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of Islamic principles and ability to relate them to contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

The requirements are 40- hr workweek with two days off to be discussed with candidates.

Compensation Is Commensurate With Experience.
