Job summary

Clinical and Support Options, Inc. (CSO) seeks Shelter Counselors for the Northampton shelter to provide triage and intake interviews, document services, support bed and meal assignments, and engage guests in a safe, supervised environment. You will work with staff to ensure smooth operations during your shift.

Starting pay is $18.50/hour. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s (preferred) or a Diploma/Associate in Human Services with relevant experience, plus computer proficiency and a valid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
• High School Diploma or Associate's degree with experience in Human Services.
• Human Services related work or internship preferred.
• Computer proficiency is required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Greet, communicate and respond to Shelter visitors and guests with respect and sensitivity.
• Provide a safe, sanitary and dignified environment for shelter guests.
• Coordinate evening and overnight activities including bed assignments, meals, and safety assessments.
• Process intake documentation and basic demographics for records and referrals.
• Comply with shelter rules and communicate policies to guests.
• Maintain guest files and communicate with staff via reports.
• Build relationships, meet basic needs and assist with problem solving.
• Support guests in crisis by engaging with care systems and CSO services.
• Conduct room and bag checks and remove dangerous items.
• Stay awake and alert during shifts and complete guest intakes and annuals in the ECR system.
• Perform shift duties, manage guest belongings, and supervise chores and rounds.
• Document incident reports and update guest charts in the ECR system.

Education

Bachelor's degree (preferred)

High School Diploma or Associate's degree with experience in Human Services

Human Services related work or internship (preferred)

Computer proficiency

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
