Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking a dedicated Emergency Veterinarian for per diem coverage. You will handle a range of emergencies, from routine to complex surgeries, including exotic cases, in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will work with a supportive team and benefit from mentorship, ongoing education, and career growth opportunities.

You will provide compassionate client communication, accurate medical records, and clear cost estimates while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S. and able to handle emergency cases.
• Strong interpersonal skills for client and team communication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rotating schedule including nights/weekends/holidays.
• Willingness to work in a hospital environment with pet owners present.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions and triage cases over the phone or in person.
• See patients upon arrival and document signalment, presenting complaint, vitals.
• Perform physical examinations, diagnostics, and formulate treatment plans.
• Communicate diagnoses and options clearly to clients.
• Prepare estimates and discuss costs with owners.
• Maintain and review medical records for accuracy.
• Assist in emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
