Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group The PC is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be at the heart of our Redmond, WA hospitals. You’ll support the team, comfort pet parents, and learn on the job as you handle triage, treatments, and the care pathway.

You’ll work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, gain hands-on experience in anesthesia, imaging, and emergencies, and have opportunities to grow toward more advanced roles through guided pathways.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years as a veterinary assistant (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice software familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and a steady support, triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, oxygen support).
• Work with technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
• Assist during every moment of care: outpatient or inpatient, exam room to treatment area.
• Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER Certification (training provided).
• Grow into more advanced responsibilities through guided training pathways.
