Sylvania in Ohio is seeking a reliable Substitute Bus Driver to help transport students and passengers safely during regular driver absences.

Responsibilities include operating school buses according to regulations, performing pre-trip inspections, keeping the vehicle clean, and communicating with students, parents, and staff about schedules and changes. Flexibility for mornings, afternoons, and occasional events is required.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements; training provided to obtain endorsements.
• Clean driving record with no major violations or suspensions.
• Experience driving large vehicles or buses preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
• Must pass background checks and drug screening as required by law and district policy.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours including mornings, afternoons, weekends or holidays.
• Commitment to safety and the well-being of all passengers.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses safely and in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Transport students and passengers to and from designated locations, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized bus interior and exterior.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and changes.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while transporting passengers.
• Manage student behavior on the bus to maintain a safe environment.
• Report incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues to authorities in a timely manner.
• Be available to fill in for regular drivers on short notice, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional events.
