Job summary

Sylvania in Lovington, NM seeks a Substitute Bus Driver to transport students to and from school and events under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator. You will perform pre-trip inspections, keep the bus clean, and ensure safe operation of the vehicle.

Responsibilities include supervising students, coordinating with teachers and parents, maintaining seating charts, and reporting incidents as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CDL preferred; not mandatory for hire.
• DOT physical examination required for transportation staff.
• Post-employment training available; in-service and first aid certification emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Operates bus, transporting students to and from school or events.
• Pre-inspects bus, checks fluids, lights, brakes, tires and records pre-trip.
• Fuels bus at contract suppliers and cleans bus daily.
• Monitors students, communicates with teachers/parents, and completes conduct reports.
• Maintains seating charts with teachers and operates radio for coordination.
• Participates in safety drills and in-service trainings; reports accidents and injuries.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

DOT physical exam

Certificate of in-service training required

First aid basic certification

Eight hours of annual in-service training
