Job summary

LifeWise Academy provides safe transportation for public school students to and from the LifeWise site. The driver is responsible, punctual, and maintains a clean driving record while ensuring student safety throughout the trip.

The role requires a mature Christian faith aligned with our beliefs, valid licenses, and successful background and drug tests. This is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position with duties including classroom volunteering as agreed.

Qualifications

• Must have a mature Christian faith aligned with LifeWise beliefs.
• Active participation in a local church aligned with LifeWise Statement of Faith.
• Regular driver’s license held continuously for 3+ years.
• CDL with passenger (P) endorsement for >15-passenger vehicles; 15-passenger van needs no special license.
• Age 21–80; drivers over 75 must submit annual docs as applicable.
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or citations in 5 years.
• Background check through LifeWise program.
• Annual physician’s statement for known medical conditions.
• Drug/alcohol testing required pre-employment, annually, and after incidents.

Responsibilities

• Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
• Obey traffic laws.
• Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
• Perform regular inspections of the bus.
• Refuel the vehicle as needed.
• Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
• Enforce safety rules for students.
• Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle.
• Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
• Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
• Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the Director.
