Pratt & Whitney, a global aerospace leader, offers an internship/co-op opportunity in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, with a hybrid work arrangement. The program runs January to June and requires residency in Puerto Rico at start; relocation is not offered.

You will learn alongside a growing engineering team and work on reliability analyses, environmental testing, and advanced propulsion technologies. Candidates must be pursuing an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 60 hours

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and enrolled through internship.
  • Minimum of 60 hours of credit by start of internship/co-op.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

  • Support Air Transport, Business, Regional and Military aircraft products and programs.
  • Perform Reliability Assessments, including MTBF estimates and component failure rates.
  • Execute Derating analyses, FMEAs, HIRF and Lightning analyses, Testability and Maintainability assessments.
  • Develop AST and ESS profiles and oversee testing procedures and reports.
  • Conduct HALT/HASS tests and lead failure review boards with corrective actions.
  • Realize Neutron Single Event Upset susceptibility analysis.

Immerse yourself in a Monday‑Friday Co‑Op session, that will run from January to June (it is expected students will take this time off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What You Will Do:
  • Support Air Transport, Business, Regional and Military aircraft products and programs.
  • Complete Reliability Assessments, which includes performing reliability predictions to establish MTBF estimates and component failure rates.
  • Execute Derating analysis, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEAs), High Intensity Radiation Fields (HIRF) and Lightning analysis, Testability analysis and Maintainability Assessments.
  • Make Accelerated Stress Testing (AST) and develop Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) profiles.
  • These testing efforts include HALT/HASS, and the development of test procedures and reports, overseeing and conducting testing, conducting failure review board meetings, and defining corrective actions.
  • Realize Neutron Single Event Upset susceptibility analysis.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co‑op session.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Prior RTX internship, co‑op, or work experience.
  • Experience in reliability engineering.
  • Experience navigating competing priorities, achieving the highest level of engagement, and delivering successful outcomes in critical situations.
  • Knowledge/Experience in Agile methodologies.

Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.
