Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Reliability Engineer to analyze and improve the reliability and availability of photovoltaic and battery storage systems. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical operation, with high-level system design reviews and collaboration across AES teams.

Based in Louisville, CO or Salt Lake City, UT, the role may require up to 10-15% travel to project sites and partner offices. Strong engineering background and experience with data analytics are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience focused on measuring and maintaining equipment reliability.
• Experience with root cause and failure modes analysis methods.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding equipment/facility schematics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and data analytics tools.
• Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support PV solar/BESS assets.

Responsibilities

• Establish best practices for hardware configuration and maintenance to maximize reliability and availability.
• Troubleshoot systems in operation to identify root causes of performance problems.
• Perform life cycle cost modeling of project design.
• Facilitate continuous improvement to maintenance practices with operations personnel and vendors.
• Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify hazards.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to troubleshoot projects and develop repair plans.
• Record and communicate issues to improve design and equipment selection.
• Utilize drones, LiDAR, thermal imaging and 3D modeling to enhance reliability.
