Job summary

Sonoco West Chicago seeks an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician to maximize plant reliability through proactive maintenance and skilled repairs. You will handle mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment, troubleshoot PLCs, and implement effective corrective actions with a focus on zero failures.

Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you’ll operate in a safety-conscious environment, participate in CMMS documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Welding and machining skills preferred or required as location dictates.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and PLC logic.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs and modify/write as needed; weld and fabricate components.
• Perform shop work with lathes, drills, and milling machines; document work in CMMS.
• Lead continuous improvement, perform preventive/predictive maintenance, and analyze root causes.
• Communicate with operations to resolve degraded equipment conditions and train operators.
