AES Corporation in Dayton, Ohio or Indianapolis, Indiana invites you to join as a Performance & Reliability Intern. You will work with engineers and analysts to analyze outage data, track reliability metrics, and support asset health decisions using data-driven insights.

You will build dashboards and reports in Power BI, clean and validate data, and document methodologies while learning Excel, Power BI, SQL, and Python in a real utility setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Interest in Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in data quality, validation, and reconciliation.
• Ability to organize work, follow through on assignments, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Curiosity about the energy industry, utility operations, reliability, and asset management.
• No prior utility experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze outage data to identify patterns, recurring issues, underperforming circuits, and potential causes.
• Assist with the preparation, validation, and reconciliation of reliability metrics, including SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI.
• Support asset health analyses by combining equipment condition, age, and failure information to help prioritize transformers, breakers, circuits, and other utility assets.
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI.
• Clean, organize, and validate data from multiple utility systems and sources.
• Participate in working sessions and performance reviews with engineers.
• Document data sources, assumptions, calculations, and analytical methodologies.
• Support special projects related to reliability improvement, outage root cause analysis, asset performance, and infrastructure planning.
