AES Corporation invites applications for the Performance & Reliability Intern role for Summer 2027 in Dayton, Ohio or Indianapolis, Indiana. You will work directly with engineers and analysts to drive reliability decisions using data, dashboards, and analytics tools.

Gain hands‑on experience analyzing outage data, reliability metrics, and asset health while contributing to dashboards and reporting tools for leadership. Develop practical skills in Excel, PowerBI, and utility performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in engineering, data analytics, computer science, or related field.
• Interest in PowerBI, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and interest in data quality, validation, and reconciliation.
• Ability to organize work and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Interest in energy industry, utility operations, reliability, and asset management.

Responsibilities

• Analyze outage data to identify patterns, recurring issues, and potential causes.
• Assist with reliability metrics like SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI.
• Support asset health analyses by combining equipment condition, age, and failure info.
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in PowerBI.
• Clean, organize, and validate data from multiple utility systems and sources.
• Participate in working sessions and performance reviews with engineers.
• Document data sources, assumptions, and calculations.
• Support special projects related to reliability improvement and infrastructure planning.
