Job summary

TechDigital Group is seeking a senior engineer in the US to drive release-quality software across a broad device fleet. You will collaborate with development and QA teams daily, triage issues, and develop tools for release operations.

The role emphasizes deep RDK middleware analysis, Linux networking proficiency, and data-driven monitoring to prevent field incidents. The position requires 5+ years in C/C++, Linux, and embedded systems, plus leadership experience mentoring a small team.

Qualifications

• Telecom experience if they don't have RDK experience.
• Embedded Systems experience required.
• Knowledge of RDK.
• Knowledge in Set-top boxes, Broadband Gateways, Networking or Home Security domain is a plus.
• 5+ years of C/C++ and Linux experience – from a code check perspective.
• Defect Tracking Tools such as Jira.
• SCM Tools - Git & GitHub.
• 2+ years as a technical lead and mentoring a small team of engineers.
• 3+ years experience with log management and analysis tools such as ELK, Splunk, and Grafana for data visualization and monitoring.
• One scripting language experience - Bash, Go, Python.

Responsibilities

• Drive on-time, high-quality releases across a large number of devices.
• Ensure release quality and triage lifecycle including deployment, triage, and tool development for release operations.
• Collaborate daily with Development and QA teams.
• Assess and ensure RDK software release quality with KPIs and field incidents.
• Identify new tools and processes to improve release triage engineering.
• Manage risks and resolve issues affecting scope, schedule and quality.
• Ensure timely and high-quality releases across devices with proactive monitoring.
• Troubleshoot entertainment devices across components like media player, streaming protocols, web browser, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi/Ethernet.
• Diagnose issues using Linux and networking protocols; perform packet captures.
• Develop anomaly detection and data-driven solutions for system issues.
• Deep-dive into RDK middleware issues to identify root causes.
• Design and enhance operational tools to improve system performance.
• Analyze data from millions of devices to support decision-making.
• Utilize AWS technologies (S3, Athena, Quick Sight) for data management and visualization.
• Architect and implement DevOps solutions for operations improvement.
• Compare metrics across device models globally.
• Respond to critical field issues and lead mitigation efforts.

Core Responsibilities

As a key engineer of the team, you will be responsible for driving on-time, high-quality releases across a large number of devices. Responsible for complete release quality and triage lifecycle which includes deployment, triage, mitigation, and tool development for software release operations. The position will require daily collaboration with Development and QA teams. You will assess and ensure the release quality of the RDK software with Key performance metrics as well as incidents from the field.
Also identify new tools, process etc. that are necessary to improve the software release triage engineering process. You will manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.
Ensuring timely and high-quality software releases across various devices using proactive monitoring of metrics and alerting
Troubleshoot problems in entertainment devices in various components like Media player, Audio/Video streaming protocols , Web browser, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi/Ethernet
Diagnosing and resolving issues using Linux systems and networking protocols, including packet capture analysis
Develop anomaly detection techniques and data-driven solutions to identify and address system issues.
Deep-dive analysis of RDK middleware issues, including source code review, to identify root causes in the middleware and platform.
Design and enhance operational tools to improve system performance.
Analyze data from millions of field devices to provide insights and support decision-making.
Utilize AWS technologies (S3, Athena, Quick Sight) for data management and visualization.
Architect and implement DevOps solutions for operational improvement.
Compare the metrics globally across various device models.
Respond immediately to critical field issues, determine their triggers, and mitigate them.
Lead teams, mentor colleagues, and communicate technical insights effectively to stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience AWS, Asure or other cloud infrastructure
• Experience with monitoring systems (i.e. Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Jenkins, Concourse etc.
