Job description

Maximus is seeking an experienced Release Manager to join our team! The Software Release Manager ensures the smooth and timely delivery of high-quality software releases. This role involves overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software deployment processes while adhering to best practices in release management and version control. The Software Release Manager will act as the primary point of contact for release schedules, ensuring cross-functional alignment and seamless communication.

Position Details:

• Contingent upon award.
• Remote position, with occasional travel to San Antonio, TX, or Baltimore, MD as required.
• Internal Job Profile Code: TCS195, T3, Band 6.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide subject matter expertise in release management processes and tools.
2. Develop, maintain, and improve release strategies, workflows, and documentation to optimize deployment pipelines.
3. Coordinate with development, QA, operations, and product teams to plan and execute releases.
4. Analyze and mitigate risks related to deployments, ensuring robust fallback plans.
5. Monitor release metrics, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve processes.
6. Create high-quality release communication materials, including schedules, impact analyses, and post-release reports.
7. Lead post-implementation reviews to gather feedback and refine future releases.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in software release management; a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field may substitute 2 years of experience.
• TS/SCI clearance required.
• Proficiency with release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
• Strong understanding of SDLC and CI/CD practices.
• Experience managing complex projects across multiple teams.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructures and DevOps principles.
• Certifications such as CSM or ITIL Foundations are advantageous.
