The Relay Technician II role advances testing, commissioning, and maintenance with increasing independence, under guidance from senior technicians and engineers.

The position emphasizes safety, thorough reporting, and collaboration with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety-sensitive role.
• Must pass a satisfactory criminal background check.
• Willingness to travel for projects as needed.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation or distribution level substations.
• Capability to troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing, commissioning, and maintenance with supervision from Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
• Create testing plans and isolation plans to ensure safe execution of work.
• Analyze relay operations, event records, and system performance data for troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and complex protection logic.
• Develop detailed reports including test results and calibration documentation.
• Coordinate work with engineers, project teams, and other technicians to ensure project alignment.
