Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) in Nashville, TN is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems with growing independence. The role emphasizes safety and technical proficiency, supporting project execution through testing, troubleshooting, and reporting.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with protective relays, be capable of reading electrical diagrams, and participate in field testing including SCADA and network

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Willing to work overtime and travel as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission/generation/distribution substations.
• Ability to analyze relay operations and troubleshoot circuits.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with support from senior technicians and engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and functional testing of relays and control systems.
• Review readings to verify performance and identify anomalies.
• Conduct end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
• Install and test communications including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, fiber optics.
• Analyze system data for troubleshooting and validation.
• Read and interpret one-line/three-line diagrams and protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans for safe execution.
• Create detailed test and commissioning reports.
• Communicate clearly with team and clients.
• Coordinate work with engineers and project teams.
