Job summary

BMO U.S. Milwaukee seeks an experienced credit risk professional to manage a defined portfolio of high-risk borrowing accounts. You will assess risk, make credit decisions, and advise stakeholders on mitigation strategies to reduce loss exposure.

Responsibilities include policy development, training, change management, and cross-functional collaboration to improve portfolio performance and profitability. A strong background in credit risk and banking products is essential.

Qualifications

• Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards.
• In-depth knowledge of banking products & services.
• In-depth knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
• In-depth knowledge of credit portfolio management policies & procedures, and financing guidelines.
• Proven leadership skills and highly developed coaching skills.
• Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Responsibilities

• Delivers an exceptional customer experience for a defined portfolio of high risk borrowing accounts by applying expertise to reduce the Bank’s loss exposure and manage risks.
• Advises stakeholders on complex, high-risk credit risk transactions and mitigation strategies.
• Makes credit decisions/recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and policies.
• Recommends alternatives to credit proposals and utilizes special loan plans when appropriate.
• Contributes to development and implementation of lending policies and procedures.
• Acts as trusted advisor to assigned business/group and coordinates with internal/external stakeholders.
• Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives with debtors and guarantors.
• Develops analytical tools, reports, and training programs; may deliver training.
• Builds change management plans and leads or participates in change initiatives.
• Provides technical expertise and coaching to team members; supports workload coordination.
• Monitors financial and risk performance; conducts financial and risk analysis to improve quality and security.
• Documents decisions with clear rationale; informs customers of terms and collateral requirements.
• Keeps abreast of economic and market developments to inform credit risk policies.
