Job summary

BMO Financial Group in the United States seeks a senior credit risk professional to manage a defined portfolio of high-risk borrowing accounts, applying expertise to reduce loss exposure and guide credit decisions in line with bank policy.

You will advise internal stakeholders, develop risk mitigation strategies, analyze portfolio performance, and contribute to policy development while coaching teams and ensuring compliant, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Credit qualifications and associated knowledge and skills according to established standards.
• In-depth knowledge of banking products & services.
• In-depth knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
• In-depth knowledge of credit portfolio management policies & procedures, and financing guidelines.
• Proven leadership and coaching skills.
• Strong verbal & written communication, collaboration & teamwork.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven approach.
• Influence skills and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Advise on complex, high-risk credit risk transactions and mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement lending-related policies and procedures.
• Act as trusted advisor to assigned business/group and negotiate to meet objectives.
• Analyze issues and provide insights to improve quality and risk control.
• Monitor portfolio performance and risk to inform decision-making.
• Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
• Lead or participate in change management and stakeholder communication.
