The Day to Day

You’ll manage commercial underwriting and deal structuring, coordinating with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Assistants, and Credit Analysts to ensure a fast, transparent process. Utilizing Jack Henry, Moody’s, and Google Workspace, you’ll handle diverse loans—including those over $5 million—while collaborating with the branch team to deliver comprehensive banking solutions. You will actively engage in community networking and civic initiatives to cultivate robust referral pipelines, maintaining customer response times within an ambitious 24-hour window.

What you bring to High Plains Bank:
Experience
  • 5+ years of business relationship management experience, specifically SMBs.
  • Proven track record managing varying loan sizes.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong background in commercial underwriting, commercial deal structuring, and credit analysis.
  • Strong critical thinking, flexibility, and creative problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of banking relationship experiences and a passion for active customer interaction.
  • High level of organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Proficiency or adaptability to core banking and lending tools, such Jack Henry and Moody's, as well as Google Workspace.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • A 4-year college degree is preferred.
  • Natural leadership capabilities and a strong ability to mentor.
  • Excellent networking skills and the ability to comfortably cultivate community connections and referral networks.
Responsibilities of the position
  • Retain and Deepen Existing Relationships: Maintain consistent connections with existing customers and referral sources, identifying opportunities to enhance support via additional products like cash management, investments, merchant services, and digital banking. Work closely with Branch Support and Processing Support for timely decisions on advances, NSF payments, and collateral releases.
  • Expand and Diversify Customer Base: Active engagement in networking and community activities to expand referral networks and capture full relationships (lending and deposit) at the outset of establishing a new customer.
  • Quarterback the Loan Process from Prospect to Close: Work seamlessly with lending teams to ensure a smooth, transparent, and rigorous lending experience. Partner with the Market President, Business Development lead, CFO, and Credit Officers to craft competitive, profitable, and compliant pricing and offerings.
  • Ensure Rigorous and Compliant Credit Management: Take ownership of credit analysis, deal structuring, underwriting, renewals, and file maintenance to ensure they meet bank and regulatory standards. Step in to underwrite deals directly when necessary to ensure swift customer service, and work with the team to promptly address exceptions and minimize extensions.
