Job summary

New Horizons Credit Union in Alabama is seeking a Loan Officer to provide an exemplary member service experience, assessing financial needs and offering appropriate loan products. You will initiate contact with members, process applications, and ensure timely underwriting and closing.

The role requires professional appearance, ethical conduct, and collaboration with Mortgage Center, Loan Operations, and branch staff to meet monthly goals and maintain compliance.

Responsibilities

• Submit all loans through Centralized Underwriting; ensure loan agreements and documentation are complete and accurate according to Credit Union policy and applicable regulations.
• Create solutions to overcome obstacles during the member application process.
• Provide timely and professional follow up with all in process loan applications and ensure approved loan closing deadlines are met and coordinated with the member.
• Use Daily Calendar effectively; establish preset appointments, deliver quality, identify financial needs by communicating with the member, make recommendations and follow up.
• Ensure that all individual loan volume and ancillary product goals are met/exceeded each month.
• Meet or exceed all established activity goals (face to face appointments, voice to voice calls, etc.) to drive sales and referral results.
• Engage in outbound calling and needs assessment as assigned by the Branch Manager; generate qualified referrals for alternate products, channels and other lines of business to meet goals.
• Develop strong partnership with Mortgage Center to deepen relationship with members.
• Scan and image loan documentation within 3 business days of loan closing for timely collateral perfection and post-closing review requirements.
• Partner with all Loan Operation support teams to ensure compliance, quality internal controls, operational policy, lending support procedures, and risk management standards are being met.
• Meet with local schools and businesses, attend local community events in a defined branch area weekly and identify opportunities for new relationships.
• Provide weekly Business Call Report to VP of Lending and VP of Operations.
• Ensure that all public relations activities and internal projects support short and long-term objectives of the Credit Union.
