Job summary

American International Group (AIG) is seeking an Assistant Manager in Reinsurance Claims to lead a team handling complex, high-exposure assumed claims both domestically and internationally. The role involves ensuring contract compliance, coordinating with clients and reinsurers, and preserving accurate reserves.

You will mentor staff, drive timely loss information and provide support for mediations and audits, contributing to AIG’s global claims excellence and risk management objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in insurance/reinsurance.
• Ceded or assumed reinsurance experience.
• Reinsurance claims or accounting experience.
• Management experience preferred.
• Accounting/finance degree or designations a plus.
• Knowledge of underwriting, claims, accounting and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff handling assumed reinsurance claims across lines of business.
• Ensure compliance with reinsurance contracts and treaty terms.
• Interact with clients, cedants, and reinsurers; report losses and reserves.
• Coach staff and drive performance within the team.
• Support mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings as needed.
