Job summary

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is seeking a Reimbursement Specialist for our Westchester, IL corporate office. The role supports patients, attorneys, and insurance companies, guiding them through billing statements with excellent customer care.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and 2+ years AR experience, preferably in orthopedics. The position offers a hybrid work model after a two-week in-person training period.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years Accounts Receivable/Collections experience, preferably in Orthopedics.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls in call center and assist patients/insurance with questions.
• Follow up with insurance companies and patients on claim/payment status.
• Document actions and maintain patient account records for audit trail.
• Review and adjust balances per fee schedules and MD requests; verify claims processed.
• Research and obtain documentation for insurance to process claims.
• Identify denials and file timely appeals with proper documentation.
• Answer questions regarding statements and coverage; contact payers by phone/email.
• Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for a Reimbursement Specialist at our Corporate office in Westchester, IL. This position will assist patients, attorney's and insurance companies with account questions and ensure they understand the billing statements and processes while providing the highest level of customer care. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position will be a hybrid role after an approximate two-week in-person training.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following.

• Answer incoming calls into call center and assist patients/insurance companies with account questions in a courteous and timely manner. Ensure patient/insurance companies understand the billing statements and processes to provide the highest level of customer care.
• Facilitate follow-up communications with insurance companies and patients regarding claim/payment status through practice management system and reporting tools.
• Document all actions and maintain a permanent record of patient accounts to ensure a sufficient audit trail
• Review and adjust balances according to fee schedules & management/MD requests, able to verify that claims have processed correctly by the insurance plan.
• Research and obtain necessary documentation for insurance companies to process outstanding claims.
• Identify denials and appeal with proper documentation within a timely manner to secure payment.
• Answers patients' questions regarding statements and insurance coverage. Telephones or emails payers for follow up on outstanding claims.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum of 2 years Accounts Receivable/Collection experience in Motor Vehicle Accident/Personal Injury; preferably in an Orthopedic practice

Pay Range: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour.
