Job summary

Empath Health is seeking a detail-oriented Reimbursement Specialist to join our Patient Accounting Team. You will compile, review, and process billing and AR documents, insurance bills and payments, and maintain AR and patient service revenue records and reports.

You will prepare monthly billings, reconcile cash receipts, review AR bills for accuracy, and focus on resolving denials and ensuring timely payments from Medicare/Medicaid and insurance providers.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree with one year previous billing/medical office related experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in general healthcare billing practices; proficiency with billing software and Netsmart, HCHB EMR within 3 months of post-hire.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations.
• Knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database applications and medical billing applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, reviews, and submits monthly billings according to established procedures.

• Receives and answers inquiries from insurance sources/Case Managers regarding patient status or obtaining updated authorizations.
