Job Summary

Works under the supervision of a licensed Physical/Occupational Therapist and assists the therapist in patient care and other clinic-related activities.

  • Education: High school graduation or GED, or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Students seeking therapy-related careers are preferred.
  • Language Ability: Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence or memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratios, rate, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and operational knowledge preferred.
  • Certificates and Licenses: None required.
Working Conditions
  • Noise level: Moderate
  • Traveling: May need to travel between clinics; travel will not be reimbursed.
  • Physical demands: Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; also required to stand, walk, handle, bend, stoop, lift up to 50#, occasionally 70#, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Vision requirement: Ability to perform close vision, peripheral vision, adjust focus, and spend up to 4-5 hours in front of a computer.
Rehab Tech Duties
  • Communicate client information in person, by phone, or mail to authorized persons.
  • Assist patients with paperwork, insurance verification, and authorization for treatment.
  • Clean and set up clinical treatment areas with proper disinfectant after each use.
  • Assist therapists with patient care within the scope of training.
  • Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas and equipment, laundry, trash, and organize clinic areas.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and follow up on cancellations; coordinate with the clinical director or lead therapist.
  • Perform inventory of supplies weekly and equipment monthly; report maintenance needs.
  • Assist in marketing and promotional efforts as needed.
  • Participate in in-services and departmental meetings.
  • Support the smooth operation of the clinic and perform responsibilities assigned by the Therapy director/Tech supervisor.

  • Compliance Program: Contribute to compliance with regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Performance Improvement Program: Participate in performance improvement initiatives and suggest operational improvements.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Follow safety policies, report hazards, and respond to emergencies.
  • Professional Competence: Engage in ongoing training, share knowledge, and seek learning opportunities.
