Rehabilitation Tech
Under specific direction, follows the treatment plans created by Occupational or Physical Therapists. Assists therapists with setup, performance, or cleanup related to exercises, modalities, splint fabrication, daily living skills, and other patient care activities as assigned. Takes inventory of equipment, orders supplies and linens, cleans equipment, and maintains participant areas. May perform clerical duties as needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with participant care activities as directed by therapists, including modalities such as ultrasound, phonophoresis, traction, hot packs, ice packs, ice massage, e-stim, paraffin bath, and fluidotherapy.
- Set up and assist with daily living/functional activities and muscle strengthening exercises, splint fabrication, etc., as determined by the therapist.
- Notify therapists of changes in participant's condition or concerns regarding treatment.
- Maintain neat, clean, and safe treatment areas. Clean therapy equipment regularly. Prepare areas for treatment, ensure supplies are available, assist in participant escort, and clean after therapy sessions.
- Work with staff to monitor supply inventory levels and may be responsible for ordering supplies.
- Participate in departmental in-service programs and complete mandatory competency requirements.
- Perform clerical duties as needed and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain participant confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting involving patient care; certification as a rehabilitation technician or related field is preferred.
- Experience working with frail and elderly populations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- On-the-job training of 1-3 months required, with ongoing competency testing.
- Ability to exercise frequently, lift patients, push wheelchairs, and move equipment.
- Must meet CMS competencies for independent work.
- Excellent communication, understanding, sensitivity, teamwork, ownership, motivation, excellence, and respect.

Working Conditions:
- Work in a patient care setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases. Limited noise, temperature fluctuations, and dust. Must be medically cleared and immunized.
