Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Therapy Aide to assist therapists in the direct and indirect delivery of patient care. Under supervision, you will help with scheduling, preparing referrals, and coordinating treatment setups in outpatient and inpatient settings.

You will support PT/OT, organize treatment areas, manage clerical duties, and ensure proper documentation. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required to contribute to patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 6–12 months of volunteer or paid experience in a rehabilitation setting.
• Ability to assist therapists in providing care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service behavior.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and basic Internet use.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); must obtain within 30 days if not present.

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists with scheduling and charting.
• Prepare and update referrals and scheduling tags.
• Transcribe and distribute schedules to nursing units.
• Maintain daily equipment, supplies, and cleaning of the gym.
• Orient new staff and registry on required forms.
• Support PT/OT per policy and communicate patient responses to therapists.
• Assist with treatment setup and cues to facilitate therapy.
• Perform clerical tasks and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Participate in special departmental projects as directed by leadership.
• Outpatient workflows: pull charts, ensure documentation, and prep for scanning.
