Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in health care, public relations or health care education.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage people in a warm and positive way.
• Intermediate computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheet software, data entry and keyboarding.

Responsibilities

• Supports the efficiency of the Licensed Therapy Provider and the rehabilitation department with direct patient contact activities.
• Improves therapist efficiency by starting patient treatments when patients are overlapped and using problem solving strategies.
• Communicates with patients and therapists, anticipates needs and conveys concerns, status changes and response to treatment to the therapist.
• Performs registration, scheduling, cashiering, admitting and follow-up of patients; coordinates appointments with other areas or physician offices as needed.
• Performs reception/clerical duties: phones, messages, greeting and scheduling patients, billing, faxing, photocopying, assembling patient records, routing mail.
• Reviews therapy orders in the EMR system and ensures patients are routed appropriately.
• Maintains department files and records; processes billing and reimbursements; completes insurance verifications and authorizations; tracks reauthorizations.
• Monitors the therapy environment to meet patient experience standards.
• Orders, stocks, and organizes therapy equipment and supplies; maintains office and therapy area cleanliness and safety.
• Cleans and disinfects gym/treatment areas and equipment; performs routine maintenance and safety checks.
