Job summary

Altria is seeking a Regulatory Scientist II in Richmond, VA to join a team delivering accurate, timely lab results and supporting production with quality testing. The role requires a B.S. in chemistry or related field, experience in analytical labs, and familiarity with GMP/quality systems.

You will work a night shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM) and support multiple production shifts. Responsibilities include method development support, data review, equipment maintenance, and CAPA investigations, with

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or closely related field
• 1 year in analytical chemistry lab; 3 years of industry experience preferred
• Experience in regulated industry and familiarity with ISO 17025/ISO 9001 quality systems
• Experience with lab instruments: HPLC, GC, IC, pH, FTIR
• Experience with Quality Management Systems, LIMS, and SAP
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Ability to stand, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds during shifts

Responsibilities

• Sample and test raw and in-process materials for conformance to specifications and release to production
• Review and approve data generated by laboratory staff
• Perform calibrations, verifications, maintenance, and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment
• Initiate investigations for out-of-spec data and implement CAPAs
• Manage inventory of laboratory consumables, reagents, and equipment calibration
• Assist with design of experiments for method development and validation
• Conduct peer-to-peer training on laboratory methods and document revisions
