Job summary

Ford Energy seeks an Regulatory Requirements Engineer based in Dearborn, MI, bridging global regulatory landscapes with its system engineering teams. You will translate complex UL, IEC, NFPA, NEC, UN38.3 language into precise, testable requirements and maintain traceability across design and verification.

The role demands strong writing, cross‑functional coordination, and the ability to foresee regulatory risk to prevent costly redesigns and delays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience interpreting and implementing regulatory/code requirements in energy, automotive, or industrial products.
• Experience with grid-scale or automotive regulatory frameworks (UL 9540/9540A, IEC 62619/62933, NFPA 855).
• Strong technical writing and requirements management skills (DOORS, Jama, or similar preferred).

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Monitoring & Interpretation: monitor updates to UL 9540/9540A, IEC 62619/62933, NFPA 855, NEC, UN38.3, and regional standards.
• Requirements Engineering & Traceability: decompose regulatory clauses into atomic, testable requirements and maintain traceability links.
• Cross-functional collaboration: facilitate walkthroughs with systems, electrical, mechanical, and software leads.
• Maintain a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction compliance matrix for markets Ford Energy serves.
