Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Nurse III in Houston to perform regulatory surveys, validation surveys, and follow-up visits at licensed facilities. You will evaluate plans of correction, prepare reports, and refer for enforcement as needed.

The role includes mentoring new surveyors and representing the department at stakeholder meetings. Responsibilities require extensive travel statewide (up to 80%), and telework eligibility may apply after probation.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Experience in health facility surveys or regulatory work.
• Knowledge of state and federal health care regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site surveys and investigations of licensed facilities.
• Prepare and complete detailed regulatory reports on findings.
• Train and mentor junior survey staff and serve as preceptor.
