Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking an experienced Lead Utility Compliance professional to support growth of the county's water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure. You will oversee design reviews, permitting, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe and reliable utility services for the community.

The role involves directing utility plan reviews, coordinating with Planning and Development, managing inspections, and guiding staff to maintain accurate record drawings,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field AND four years of job-related experience
• Or Associate's degree in related field AND six years of job-related experience
• Substitution of years of experience for the degree may be considered
• Two years or more of supervisory experience in water/sewer facility operations/maintenance
• Valid Florida Driver License at time of hire

Responsibilities

• Oversee utility design plan reviews, permitting, and compliance with relevant codes
• Direct site and development reviews, utility plan reviews, and construction permits
• Coordinate FDOT projects, utility permitting, and UWHCA requirements
• Manage subdivision plats, public utility easements, and CIP projects
• Provide technical guidance to Utilities Operations on complex utility issues
• Supervise staff and manage annual operating budget, monitor performance metrics
• Represent Public Utilities at DRC and other public meetings
• Oversee record drawings reviews and project closeout activities
