Job summary

Sarasota County’s Public Utilities is seeking a Senior Engineer to design and plan water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure, guiding projects from conception through construction.

You will analyze capacity, manage interlocal and oversizing agreements, coordinate with design consultants, regulators, and internal teams, and support CIP programs to meet schedules and budgets. This role requires a PE/PG license, a Civil Engineering degree, and a Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 4+ years post-licensure experience.
• PE (Professional Engineer) or PG (Professional Geologist) license required.
• Florida driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing utility system capacity and plan infrastructure improvements.
• Manage oversizing agreements and developer reimbursement processes.
• Coordinate interlocal agreements with other governmental entities.
• Support CIP projects and utility design reviews from conception to construction.
• Plan water, wastewater, and reclaimed water improvements per master plans.
• Oversee design consultants and contractors to meet schedules and budgets.
• Engage with regulators and internal teams to ensure compliance.
