Job summary

The State of Iowa is seeking an Investigator for the Iowa Insurance Division's Market Regulation Bureau to lead regulatory investigations of licensed individuals and entities.

Role requires a law degree and progressive experience in insurance investigations or related enforcement, with strong analysis, interviews, and detailed reporting skills. The Division offers IPERS, health benefits, and hybrid telework opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of law.
• Bachelor’s degree plus three years related experience may qualify.
• Seven years of education/experience in relevant fields or equivalent.
• 18 months of experience in state insurance regulation (recommended).

Responsibilities

• Initiate and lead investigations into potential violations of state insurance laws and regulations.
• Direct investigations on regulated parties ( Producers/Agents, Adjusters, Appraisers, Umpires, investment advisors).
• Review and analyze consumer complaints involving regulated individuals and companies.
• Analyze conduct for adherence to statutes including Iowa Code Chapters 507B, 522B, 522C, 522F and 502.
• Collaborate with investigators and analysts to prosecute consumer protection statutes.
