Job summary

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal counsel, interpret statutes and rules, and advise OMMA with minimal supervision.

You will play a key role in drafting agency rules, supporting investigations, and representing the agency in administrative proceedings, state and federal courts, and appellate matters, while handling multiple deadlines in a high‑stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• License to practice law in State of Oklahoma.
• Membership in Oklahoma Bar Association.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the primary contact for OMMA staff, addressing complex legal inquiries and providing advice.
• Plays a key role in evaluating and drafting agency rules and proposed legislation.
• Assists in OMMA compliance functions, including providing support for investigations and providing representation in administrative proceedings.
• Analyzes complex factual and legal issues and prepares legal opinions, briefs, pleadings and other legal documents; conducts legal research, reports findings, and advises on laws and regulations.
• Presents cases before various courts, including administrative, state, federal, and appellate.
• Works in a high-pressure environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
