Job summary

Hanson Search partners with an advanced nuclear energy company in Washington, DC, seeking a Regulatory Analyst. The role supports regulatory strategy in the US and international contexts, using primary sources to define applicable rules and guiding the business decisions.

You will monitor NRC, EPA and other bodies, drafting inputs for comments and position papers. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in regulatory/licensing or analytical roles, with a degree in law, policy or STEM fields, and are

Qualifications

  • A degree in law, policy, international relations, engineering, science, economics or a related field.
  • Excellent written English and strong primary-source research skills.
  • Sound judgment with incomplete information, and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Authorised to work in the US, and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Research and organize primary sources from statutes, regulator guidance to treaties, standards and dockets; assess applicability.
  • Compare frameworks across jurisdictions and identify gaps, precedents and open questions.
  • Produce gap analyses, briefing notes, applicability matrices and regulatory summaries for senior review.
  • Draft input to rulemaking comments, consultation responses and position papers.
  • Monitor developments from the NRC, EPA, USCG, IAEA and other relevant bodies; flag what matters.
  • Prepare briefings for regulator meetings and work with Engineering, Legal, Government Affairs and Business Development.
