Job summary

Luxoft in Troy, MI is seeking an Electronics Technician to support Vision Systems development and testing for automotive camera systems.

You will install customer products in test vehicles, assist with vehicle retrofits, and build/maintain test fixtures and ECU programming setups. Strong soldering skills, schematic reading, and experience with test equipment are required. A relevant associate degree and 5 years of hands-on R&D experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronics or related field.
• Experience with soldering, PCBAs repair/rework, wiring and test setups.
• 5 years of experience in a similar role in an R&D environment.

• Ability to read schematics and use test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install customer products in test and data capture vehicles.

• Define BOMs for in‑vehicle testing and data logger requirements.
• Select components and build harnesses for setups.

Job description

• The mission of the Vision Systems Product Line is to be the World Leader for Vision Systems within the automotive industry by developing innovative camera systems and providing situational awareness solutions using cutting-edge technology. Our Technician will support the development and testing of our systems at various stages of the program. Among other tasks, the technician will contribute to the team by troubleshooting, building test fixtures, and performing vehicle retrofit as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install the Customer's products in the test and data capture vehicles
• Follow up on the vehicle retrofit plan, which includes timing and budget estimations.
• Coordinate with other Customer teams or suppliers for the development/integration of new tools for the required setup.
• Participate in the setup definition (BOM) to be used for In-Vehicle testing, scene capture and data logger requirements based on the actual Customer's standard and/or new technologies.
• Select the most appropriate component/supplies for various tasks.
• Create or update the documentation related to usage and setup architecture of the system.
• Maintain the planning of tasks and deliveries.
• Support the test engineers in troubleshooting test equipment and systems
• Soldering tasks to repair, rework or update camera ECUs / PCBs
• Build various harnesses
• Design and build ECU flash programming fixtures via in-circuit test interface. Develop post-build follow-up, tests and repairs of these fixtures.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot system test engineering workstations.
• Support the team with test drives

Mandatory Skills Description

Education/Training

• Associate's Degree in Electronics or related field

Skills and Abilities

• Shall be able to read and design schematic circuits.
• Shall be able to use electronic equipment and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, etc)
• Shall be able to use computation packages (Word, PowerPoint, email, etc)
• Shall have great communication skills

Professional Experience

• 5 years' experience in a similar role, experience with soldering, repair/rework of PCBAs, wiring, and test setups.
• The person must be able to demonstrate a level of commitment, initiative and quality of workmanship required within an R&D Environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confident, articulate, self-motivated, determined & energetic.
• Self-starter, motivated individual who can work alone, with little supervision.

• Experience in using National Instruments PXI hardware is a plus.
• Automotive experience preferred
• Experience with vision systems (camera, imager technology, radar, lidar) preferred
• Shop tool experience (band saw, grinder, pedestal drill, mill, lathe, etc.) preferred
• 3D printing /CNC machining experience preferred
