Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a field-ready technician to test vehicle systems, perform calibration and troubleshooting, and support unmanned systems in defense, marine research, and commercial applications. You will lead field operations, document results, and communicate issues to engineering teams.

Independence, ability to work off boats, and experience with test procedures are valued. Requires an Associate's degree or equivalent with 6+ years related experience or a high school diploma with 8+ years;

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or other 2-year technical degree plus 6 years related experience, or high school diploma/equivalent with 8 years related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Secret clearance.
• Routine computer skills including directory structure and basic applications.
• Ability to recognize when equipment is out of specification and perform level-one troubleshooting using a DVM.
• Ability to work in the field unsupervised.

Job description

• Provide testing using measuring instruments and computer test programs for vehicle systems or products
• Provide customer support and training for new and existing customers in-house and in the field
• Support production and manufacturing functions
• Support production and assembly of test boards
• Maintain vehicle repairs, upgrades, and execution of test procedures
• Perform pre-mission vehicle programming and checkout
• Perform post-mission data download and analysis
• Perform level-one troubleshooting, including visual inspection, DVM use, and basic schematic reading
• Lead normal vehicle systems field operations for testing and design missions to obtain needed information
• Document test results completely and communicate them to required personnel
• Read and interpret test procedures and document results
• Perform responsibilities in support of Product Quality Standards
• Communicate design problems and bugs to appropriate organizational teams
• Work unsupervised in the field
• Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical equipment, components, devices, or systems
• Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions
• Operate related equipment, conduct tests, and report data in the prescribed format
• Perform calibration and alignment checks and make directed adjustments, modifications, and replacements
• Support HII's unmanned systems for defense, marine research, and commercial applications

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 6 years of related experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years of related experience
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a government Secret clearance
• Routine computer skills, including directory structure, HyperTerminal, and applications
• Ability to recognize when equipment is out of specification
• Ability to perform level-one troubleshooting using a DVM and basic schematic reading
• Ability to work in the field unsupervised
• Experience integrating and testing software and hardware on marine robotics is a bonus
• Comfortable working off boats is a bonus
• May require work in an industrial or shipboard environment
• Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above floor level
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors
